Not many material things continue to look as good as the first day you bought them. The shine eventually wears off, and evidence of wear and tear becomes more obvious, but a composite door is an exception.

Composite doors can look great, all year round. They require very little maintenance to stay aesthetically pleasing and be as beautiful as the day they were fitted.

One of the many benefits of composite doors is that the material, composite doesn’t rot, warp, crack or split as wood does. So you’ll never have to worry about stripping it, sanding it, or painting it like you would have to for a wooden door.

Furthermore, Composite doors are built to last and stand the test of time due to glass-reinforced plastic skin that is mounted on a rigid structural frame. The only thing you need to do to maintain a composite door is to clean it – however often you see fit to. Here are 5 simple steps you can take to clean your composite door.

5 steps for a clean composite door:

1. Use warm, soapy water to clean

For a clean composite door, get a bucket of warm, soapy water and a cloth. These items are all that’s needed to wash away and clean the dust and the grime away. However, please don’t use a sponge or abrasive pad that’s rough-sided, this will damage the finish on your door.

2. Water wash

When the initial cleaning is complete, you can then move on to washing the frame with water. Our biggest tip is to make sure you open the door when washing the door with water. This will enable you to reach all the edges and clean away any trapped or concealed dirt that could affect the closing mechanism over time.

3. Wash and dry the glass panels

At this stage, make sure you change the water, rinse out the cloth you’re using before moving on to clean and wash any glass panels. After washing, dry the glass with a clean and dry cloth; this will ensure no streaks are left behind or leave any lint. To add a little sparkle, you can finish it off with a spritz of glass cleaner.

4. Finishing touches wipe down

To carry out the finishing cleaning touches, get a bucket of fresh, clean water and wipe down the handles, doorknob, and letter plate. It is also advised to use a soft cloth for this process too.

5. Remove surplus water with a dry cloth

The final step is to go over the composite door with a dry cloth to remove any excess water. After this, you can take a step back and admire your ‘good as new’ composite door. It is this simple when you want a clean composite door!
